Description

Small moth, wingspan 8-11 mm. The adults fly in June-July, eggs are laid on the upper side of the leaves. The larvae form white mines, irregular in shape, under the upper epidermis of the leaf. Usually, more than one mine is found on a single leaf. In case of mass occurrence, the mines merge together to form a large white area on the leaf. The larvae overwinter in circular-shaped cocoons within the abscised leaves. It pupates in mine. The species is commonly found on the leaves of young trees under the age of 5 year. Very frequent on young trees growing inside the stand.
