Question

Answer

Hello, It's a Cypress jewel beetle; it has been advancing further north in recent years. The most effective method for its eradication is to prune infested branches or cut and burn infested trees before the adults emerge.   More about the species: https://www.forestpests.eu/pest/lamprodila-festiva   Best regards SR

Question

Honestly no damage but found this strange caterpillar (?) and am worried it will eat my roses. Thank you for the help!

Answer

Dear NN, thank you for your inquiry. The picture shows the larva of the lobster moth (Stauropus fagi). This species lives on various trees and shrubs and does not cause serious damage, as it occurs only individually. I believe that roses are not part of its menu. Have a nice day. M. Zúbrik

Question

Answer

Thank you for your inquiry. It appears to be a rather unspecific symptom, and therefore it is difficult to identify the exact cause of this type of damage. Damage by slugs is one possibility, but other causes cannot be ruled out. We are unable to determine the precise cause based on the photograph. Best regards, M. Zúbrik
