Thank you for your interesting inquiry and the lovely photograph. It’s unfortunate that the leaf is dead (an autumn aspect), making the damage less visible. It strongly resembles the mite Aceria nervisequa faginea, but since I am not completely certain, I would place this in the category of ambiguously identified species.
