Question

Honestly no damage but found this strange caterpillar (?) and am worried it will eat my roses. Thank you for the help!

Answer

Dear NN, thank you for your inquiry. The picture shows the larva of the lobster moth (Stauropus fagi). This species lives on various trees and shrubs and does not cause serious damage, as it occurs only individually. I believe that roses are not part of its menu. Have a nice day. M. Zúbrik
