Trichothecium roseum

False powdery mildew

Description

The causal agents of rot in beechnuts as well as in other seeds include fungi from various taxonomic groups. As illustrated, the major area is sprinkled with a pink powder – spores of the Trichothecium roseum fungus. Shown are also green patches of Penicillium spp., while the germ tip of the beechnut is infected with Fusarium spp.
