Description
It is a species of moth in the Lasiocampidae family. The adult is greyish brown/orange. It belongs to the group of “late summer” moths, flying from August until September. The female lays eggs on host leaves. The larvae hatch in spring. First they live together, later separately. They are brown and thick-hairy, with a row of white spots on the sides. They pupate on the ground in a barrel-shaped cocoon. Species prefers relatively warm biotopes ranging from forests to steppes and limestone grasslands and shrubs. It is common in most of Europe, in local colonies.
