Uncinula tulasnei
Powdery mildew of maple
Description
Uncinula = Sawadaea tulasnei forms round spots on the top of the leaves, in some cases the entire surface of the leaf blade is covered. This coating consists of a coarse, long-lasting, bright white mycelial network. Since mid-summer, this ectotrophic mycelium has formed conidiophores with microconidia, and to a lesser extent macroconidia. In the autumn, cleistothecia are formed, which open in the spring and ascospores are released from the pockets. In older trees, Uncinula = Sawadaea tulasnei does not harm, it only reduces their aesthetic value, in forest nurseries it can cause a decrease in growth.
