Trichoderma viride
Trichoderma viride
Description
There are several species in the genus Trichoderma such as T. harzianum Rifai, T. lignorum Harz, T. koningii Oud, etc., which grow commonly in agricultural and forest land. They can be identified by yellow-green to dark green coatings and mounds, which are spores (conidia) on the soil surface, but also on branches, cutting surfaces of trunks and stumps. A characteristic feature of the mycelium is its very rapid growth in a wide range of soil properties and antagonistic effects against other fungi. These properties are used in biological protection against pathogenic fungi.
