Description

Females of the tiny ochre beetle lay eggs into notches on young shoots. They occur on viburnum in July when they perform maturation feeding on the leaves. At first, the larvae feed gregariously on the bottom side of the leaf. Later they feed singly. They consume leaves so that only middle or lateral veinlets are left on the twigs. In case of mass occurrence, some branches and crown parts may die. Feeding is regularly repeated every year and can be massive.
