Pteleobius vittatus

Description

It is approximately 2 mm in size, and its body is covered with dense whitish hairs. This species occurs from around April, and after mating, females try to find weakened elms, especially at lower elevations. The females subsequently gnaw the horizontal maternal galleries, usually consisting of one, but more often two arms, which are relatively densely placed above each other. The larval tunnels are short, reaching up to 2 cm. It has one generation per year.
