Description
The size of the imago of this hymenopteran is 5.5 to 7 mm, and it occurs from April to May. This probably not abundant sawfly is mainly found on apple trees. These larvae live together on the leaves of apple trees, which they consume from the edge. Together, they consume several leaves. Their larvae make characteristic rapid movements but can also remain completely motionless. It is described that they are found together in groups of 10 to 20 individuals.
Symptom
Leaves of the apple tree are eaten from the edges, later the entire leaves are consumed, leaving only the stems.
