Description

Nymphalis c-album, is a species of butterfly that belongs to the family Nymphalidae. The butterfly occurs in two generations. Butterflies of the first generation have a lighter coloration. The comma gets its name from a small, white marking on the underside of its wings that resembles a comma punctuation mark. This butterfly has a wingspan of about 5-6 centimeters. The comma butterfly is found throughout most of Europe and Asia, as well as parts of North Africa. The larvae of the comma feed on some plants and even on some trees like elm (Ulmus spp.), willow (Salix spp.) or birch (Betula spp.).
