Marssonina leaf spot on salix

Description

The fungus causes tiny irregular blackish brown spots on leaves and shoots as well as canker wounds on the green bark of twigs. Infected leaves get dry and fall off prematurely. On the spots are formed spores that infect new leaves and shoots in spring during the wet weather.
