Description

Univoltine, the adults (40-45 mm wingspan) fly from March to May. Caterpillars feed from May to August, then pupate in the soil. Does not cause serious damage, but can be an abundant member of the spring-feeding community of caterpillars.

Symptom

The caterpillar is light brown to gray-black with a series of yellow spots.
