Description

The Barberry aphid Liosomaphis berberidis is a pest that affects Berberis spp. and Mahonia aquifolia. This aphid species does not shows alternation of hosts and primarily resides on the undersides of leaves belonging to barberry (Berberis) or Mahonia aquifolia. Unlike some other aphids, Liosomaphis berberidis does not engage in symbiotic relationships with ants. It boasts a wide distribution spanning across Europe, Asia, North America, and Australasia.
