Striped alder sawly

Description

May have several generations a year. Adults fly from May onwards. Eggs are laid on either side of the petiole. Young larvae chew into the leaf laminae. Older larvae consume most of the leaf tissue except of the main veins. Can cause considerable defoliation locally.
