Guignardia aesculi

Horse-chestnut leaf blight

Description

Spots on leaves caused by this fungus regularly appear in summer. The pest is characterized by yellowing and later browning of leaves from their edges. The disease also occurs with horse chestnut leaf miner, which is much more damaging that the fungal disease attracting less attention. This disease is significant especially in forest nurseries where it reduces the assimilation surface and general vitality of seedlings and young trees, and mainly in parks where it lowers their aesthetic value.
