Eudemis profundana

Diamond-back marble

Description

Eudemis profundana, commonly known as the diamond-back marble, is a moth from the family Tortricidae. It has a wingspan of 14–20 mm and variable coloration ranging from dark brown to reddish with grey marbling and a distinctive white dorsal patch. The larvae feed on Quercus spp. and Malus spp. species by rolling and feeding within the leaves. Adults are active from July to August and produce one generation per year. This species is found across most of Europe and the Near East, inhabiting deciduous woodlands and gardens.
