Botrytis cinerea

Grey mould

Description

Due to the wide range of plants affected by the fungus in gardens, orchards, forests, intravilanes, and out in the country, the seedlings and transplants in forest nurseries are endangered every year. Withering and chlorosis of the terminal, youngest parts of seedlings is one of the first symptoms of gray mold disease. A predisposition towards the infection is unbalanced nutrition and high levels of nitrogen as a result of frequent fertilization. Disease of germs and 1-year seedlings is usually terminal and fatal for the affected plant, older plants can lose the affected sprout, however, they may still survive.
