Description

Asphalia ruficollis is an univoltine species, lives in one generation. Adults fly in Spring, from February to April. Caterpillars are night-active, resting among spun leaves during the day. This species overwinters in a pupal stage. It occurs throughout Europe to Asia Minor. More common in warm, southern territories, in Balkan peninsula, France, Italy, etc. It can be found quite frequently, but not so numerous, that cause serious economic loses. Oaks (Quercus spp.), Q. pubescens and Q. cerris are preferred the host trees.
