Description

The adults (6-8 mm) feed on the leaves of the host in spring. Larvae develop in a cigar-like leaf roll, then they overwinter in these fallen rolls on the ground, where they pupate next spring. Can cause rather esthetic damage on ornamental trees, but its physiological impact is negligible. Parks, gardens, forest margins, hazel plantations.
