Description
A gall attaches directly to branches. It is a solid, round structure measuring 6-8 mm in diameter. Enveloping this gall is a layer of compact wool, ranging from yellowish white to reddish, with a thickness of up to 10 mm or even more. Inside the gall lives larva of the hymenopteran species Andricus theophrasteus. Gal is similar to those formed by Andricus quercusramuli. Andricus quercusramuli gall is covered by white cotton-like mass whily in case of Andricus theophrasteus cover is yellowish or reddish.
