Andricus kollari
Oak marble gall Andricus kollari
Description
It is one of the commonest galls in oak forests in Central Europe. On oaks lives an asexual generation of this small wasp. On twigs of oaks it forms a round, pale brown, hard gall with a diameter of 1-3 cm. The galls often appear in groups in a large number, which can weaken mainly young plants. From the gall hatch small wasps that lay eggs on the leaves of Quercus cerris. There they form small galls in which is developed a sexual generation.
Symptom
On twigs of oaks it forms a round, pale brown, hard gall with a diameter of 1-3 cm.
