Andricus hartigi

Gall wasp Andricus hartigi

Description

The gall of the species Andricus hartigi forms from a dormant bud, typically on a twig or even on a thicker branch. The gall itself measures 4-6 mm in size. However, it remains entirely concealed under 25-30 outgrowths, each consisting of a narrow stalk with a broader cone-shaped structure on top. It has a woolly appearance and a gray color, later turning brown when dry.
