Description
A spectacular gall is formed by this species. Known only from the bud galls of the asexual generation. A bud changes into a “hairy” gall with a lot of outgrowths. Individual galls may reach 6 cm in diameter and are single-chambered. Young galls are bright pink and sticky, mature are brown and sticky.The larva develops inside the gall. The gall remains on a tree for more years. Diplolepis rosae creates very similar galls on roses.
