Description
Agriopis leucophaearia is one of the most abundant oak geometrids. The male is gray with dark bands on the wings. The wingspan is 15-30 mm. The female does not fly. Adults hatch in March and April from overwintering pupae. Females climb the trunks, where males mate with them. Caterpillars have two color forms. The green form, which closely resembles the caterpillars of the species Operopthera brumata, only it is thinner and has more elongated body. The dark form, yellow-green with dark spots, is usually more abundant.
