Acalitus rudis
Gall mite Acalitus rudis
Description
Gall mite Acalitus rudis causes deformation of the birch leaves. On the upper surface of the leaf, the galls appear as pale bulges. On the underside, there are creamy white spots with dense masses of tiny hairs - felt coating. Inside this felt coating live many microscopic mites that cannot be seen with naked eye. It can often be found mainly on Betula pendula and B. pubescens.
