Ailanthus altissima
Tree of heaven
Description
The tree of heaven is a fast-growing woody plant that can limit the growth of surrounding vegetation by its roots and leaves. It excludes the substance ailanthon, which limits the growth of about seventy species of deciduous and coniferous trees. It spreads by seeds and cuttings. In the first year, seedlings can grow to a height of up to 2 meters, they begin to bear fruit in the 10th year. In response to damage, the woody plant produces intensive root and stump shoots, is light-loving and does not tolerate shading. It is short-lived, it dries up after 30 to 50 years. Tree of heaven is among the 40 most invasive trees in the world. It suffers from rotting of the root system. Trees older than 35 years are prone to refutation and break. The best possible removal of these often undesirable woody plants is a deep cut or a drill followed by a final application of a concentrated herbicide directly into the wound.
